I currently run MYOB Accounting v14. When I upgrade to v17 how does the system upgrade the current files from v14 to v17? Is there something I need to do?
Yes there are a few things you need to do. These instructions are relevant for any version of MYOB Accounting/AccountingPlus from v14 onwards, or MYOB Premier from v8 onwards.
Firstly you need to backup your existing data files in case anything goes wrong (this is always a good rule when trying anything new or different).
Second thing then is to install the new version of MYOB using the disc you have been sent. It is best that you close down all other programs before you install the new version.
Once installed, double click the new MYOB v17 icon on your desktop. Choose the option to "Open" and browse to the Accounting14 folder on your C drive (or wherever your current data files are stored). Double click the data file you wish to upgrade and then MYOB will ask if you want to upgrade the file.
Say "Yes" then choose the location to store the new upgraded file (normally the Accounting17 folder on the C drive)
Your data file will then be upgraded automatically and can be used straight away.
NOTE: You will also need to copy any customised forms from the "C:\Accounting14\Forms" folder into the "C:\Accounting17\Forms" folder in order for them to work in your new MYOB version.
