We seem to have to log everyone off MYOB Premier so that I can post the journals from the payroll.

You shouldn’t have to kick everyone off to import the pay journal, just one person.  The payroll  integration feature requires one of your logins to the Premier file, so depending on how many users you are licensed for you need to be aware of this.
